brief introduction:
Methoxyacetophenone is an aromatic compound with a sweet, fruity, nutty, and vanilla like aroma. In addition, methoxyacetophenone sometimes smells like butter or caramel. At room temperature, p-methoxyacetophenone is a solid with white to pale yellow crystals. When melted, the white crystals will turn into a transparent liquid. This compound is used as a cigarette additive, flavoring agent, and added to food seasoning. Methoxyacetophenone can be found in natural beaver fragrance (the glandular secretions of beavers). Methoxyacetophenone can be synthesized from benzyl ether and acetyl chloride through the Friedel Crafts reaction.
Used as a fragrance, herbicide intermediate, and for organic synthesis
